I bought mine at Santa Barbara Upholstery Supplies here in Vegas, but they also have a location in Glendale. Price was about what you'd pay online less shipping, and you get to look, feel, and see color shades. We went with 20 oz. because we liked the feel, and it's not too thick to man-handle/glue down.

Yep Big Box Stores. I recommend Snaps or Velcro for installation.

I'd disobey the direct order for carpet and go with vinyl, it's always easier to beg forgiveness than it is to ask permission.

If she says anything about it tell her it looks just like carpet (it really does) and you just thought it had a very short nap/pile... then take the demotion in rank along with the article 15 and smile when your deck is so easy to clean and keep dry.

If you're too big of a chicken to go with the vinyl check with Defender.com, they have some very good prices.

Hey JignGrub,
do you have any experience with Nautolex vinyl on defender.com? Is it slippery when wet? Use their adhesive not outdoor stuff from HD/Low. You have me intriqued.

Thanks, Vegas Naturist I will check them out Friday. They have marine grade rubber backed?

Re: Where did you get your MARINE CARPET?

I am trying to match a carpet color on my Sea Ray. I found a similiar name to my color at www.yourautotrim.com. Unfortunetly it's 14 oz verse the factory's 20 oz. However the Aqua-Turf carpet seems to be a good quality. I just hope it matches the durability of the 20 oz. Unfortunetly I found one review which 2 of 5 stars, complaining that you can see the backing when rolling around a sharp edge.

I ordered a color sample from them for something like $2 and USPS shipping of $2. So total of $4 for a nice color sample is well worth it. Most other places were offering a $5 color sample but with some ridicolous $12 UPS shipping.

However, I'm still not sure what I'll order since I'm trying to find a 20 oz carpet. I think Defender sells this same brand: Aqua-Turf.

I got mine at Cabela's. I got the heavy weight stuff and used that to line the inside of the hull. It's difficult to form around corners though so use the medium (middle grade) stuff on the decks. It all lasts about the same amount of time. My current boat is all vinyl and I like it a lot better.

Yes they do. And they have it in stock in Glendale. MOF they had to ship my carpet up from there.

On a side note, if you call ******** customer service (www.********.com), they will send you swatches of their carpet for free. Almost bought my carpet from them, but a boat restoration shop here in town recommended Santa Barbara so I went there.

edit: oop's, guess I can't reference an iboat competitor on their forum...

Found enough of the right stuff to redo my entire boat on Craigs list, think I ended up paying about $80.00 for a bunch of of it. It's the right color and exactly the same type that I'm removing. It's worth the search online before you drop big $$ and pay retail.

Home Depot. Many colors and styles to choose from and very inexpensive. I have only had mine in for one season, but it has taken a beating and held up very well.

Sorry SDSeville, but I looked at the HD stuff it is cheap! What I have learned over the years is to do it right and you will forgot how you did it.

Re: Where did you get your MARINE CARPET?

You are correct. I guess it depends on the application. I have a 26 year old bow rider and wanted something cheap that would take the abuse of my 3 kids and all their friends. I also went cheap because I didn't want to get upset if I had a great bloody day fishing. I will probably go with gel coat or bed liner when this stuff wears out.

Did you guys ever finish the edge on the carpet?

I'm snapping some carpet pieces into the main areas of my wellcraft, wonder how the edges will hold up to taking it in and out. None of my other boats have carpet. I'll probably press the snaps in about 0.75" from the edge.

After you have it all fitted find someone or a carpet store that can bind the edges for you. This should all you to get the maximum use and wear.
