Hi all
I have been looking at schools for marine mechanics for a while now and have narrowed (not like there was much of a choice) it to MMI in orlando, or AMI in datona beach. MMI has the factory backing. AMI has a good diesel section and costs half of MMI.
I am leaning toward AMI. I would like to have as many options open to me as I can, and I think the diesel is a great thing to open more doors. However MMI is the school the manufacturers are backing, I am unsure if this will make that much difference unless I was trying to work for a factory race team or a dealer or something. MMI also costs twice as much, and is structured so that the same amount of hours at MMI takes twice as long to complete as AMI.
If any of you pros out there have attended these schools (or not) and have an opinion or any advice... I could really use the input.

Kinda depends on what you want to do. I would fit the school to your interests rather than to how long it takes or the cost. Also you might contact prospective employers that you might like to work for and ask them for their input.

I have asked some prospective employers, they did not seem to care some were sent to MMI just for a week or something for specifics.
As far as what I want to do...HA HA, I do so much that I cant begin to think what I will do for the long haul.
Carpenter for 9years some machine work, just about anything with my hands...always worked on my own cars, motorcycles and boats since I have owned them.
I was just curious as to where some of the pros have gone and what their thoughts on those schools was.
