I have just purchased a 1980ish 20ft V Hull with Mercruiser 4cyl MCM 470 inboard/outboard as a powerplant. The cost was 75$. I know nothing of the boat, where could i look to find out information on it? It hasnt ran in about 3 years and has no seats and no major furnishings. The Carb has been rebuilt and is ready to reattach and the water pump needs to be bolted together. It appears that the faceplate for the water pump was removed in order to repair the pump. There appears to be a fan-ish inside but it is locked up. Should that be occuring? We plan on turning the engine over tommorow and going from there. Any suggestions?
sorry for the bad quality on the pictures. Razors cant take good pictures lol.

Re: Where Do I Start?

Unfortunately,....... You've bought a copy of Mercruiser's answer for a Better Boat Motor Idea,.......
That Wasn't..........

The Upside is,......... You Should be able to turn a Profit by Selling it's Parts on ebay..............;)

Well if you search around about "470" which was one of many names you will get some more info

There is a place called Breezeworks which is the king of fixing your motor and will be able to help you decide

People love them OR hate them  no in between

I would look over the boat as a whole before spending much money as many times it is cheeper to find a good runner then bring something really dead back to life
