I am replacing pistons in my 1983 Johnson 15hp. The powerhead gasket set has one gasket that doesn't seem to belong! I know extra gaskets are sometimes included for multiple applications but before I go too far I just wanted to see if anyone recognizes my extra gasket.
This first picture shows all the gaskets contained in the set and a description of the various pieces. The 'questionable' gasket is highlighted:
This next photo is the gasket in question. The P/N is 324717 and it's called the 'Powerhead Base Mounting Gasket.
This last picture (P/N 325721) is the 'Adapter Housing Gasket'. It fits between the bottom of the powerhead and the lower housing and does fit my motor. I only included it because it seems to most closely match the description of the phantom gasket above.
