Don't confuse sweet spot and WOT rpm as the same thing. WOT rpm is a range set by the engine manufacture for that engine. You adjust prop size to get in the proper range.
Sweet spot is normally the place the engine likes to run (while on plane) that just feels right, May be 3000 or 4000 or 5000, depends on your boat, trim, loading etc. Just an RPM the boat just feels right when running.

Since that motor's range is 4500-5500, with hp rated at 5000, you're at the sweet spot. Running the rpm's up(with a 17) to basically go the same speed is just going to burn more gas at all speeds.

Most motor's sweet spot for best fuel economy is around 3500 rpm.

Nice sweet spot could be maintaining full plane at lower rpm while engine runs smooth withtout being demanded. Will have less gas consumption while maintaining a nice relaxed cruising speed. Will depend too on how loaded you like to bo boating.

Happy Boating

As a rule I try not to get too loaded out boating. But if somebody's got some of them thar tasty jello shots, anything could happen ...

Anyway. If you can get a V4 to run around 30mph at about 3Krpm you've found the sweet spot.

Re: Where is a sweet spot rpm for a 110 evinrudeh

Sorry about the jibberish on the first post I was trying to us a Smart???Phone to post and it was smarter than me. anyway running a 17 pitch apollo stainless and am getting 41-42 mph at 52-5300 trimmed out. hole shot is ok not great. Have moster tabs installed (best money I have spent) but was wondering if a 15 might get me a great hole shot, 55-5600 wot and MAYBE a little more mph. Just trying to get your take on this if it was or is worth a try thanks again

What type of 18ft Tracker is it? I can think of at least three different types of 18ft Tracker boats. The performance can be somewhat different between the types.

For better hole shot, you might try a 4 blade of equal pitch, but don't expect more speed, cause they aren't designed for that. If you go to a 4 blade of lesser pitch, you'll get killer hole shot, and gain about 400 rpm, but you will likely lose some top speed.

So if i put the same brand of prop on ,ss 15 instead of a ss 17, as a rule how many rpm should the motor gain and could I keep the same speed because of increased rpm???? Thanks
