I just purchased a 1994 Bayliner capri 1800 with a Force 120 hp. When I run it in backyard with garden hose for water supply, I cant find where the water exits the engine. On my old inboard it came out of the center of the prop with the exaust. Is the empeller shot or what?

Re: Where is the cooling water?

Does your engine have 2 ports at the top of the lower unit leg.... Most of the forces do not have a telltale on them from the factory, Most people add them to the engine... Yes when the engine is running make sure your water supply from the muffs is set to full from the hose and that you have a good fit with the muffs on the lower unit.. The water should exit from the prop and from the 2 ports on the back of the lower unit.. It wont come out as a stream from these 2 ports but more like a spray... If your over heat alarm isnt going off and it works.. Im assuming the water pump impeller is still good in yours..

Good luck

Thank you for your input. I do have two ports at the top of the lower unit, havn't seen any water spraying from them. Alarm hasn't gone off. The motor dosn't appear as if it has ever overheated, original paint on heads looks like new and motor is really clean. I will try putting full pressure on hose. water sprays out around muffs, Muffs are as tight as they can be.

thanks for your help

make sure that the holes aren't plugged with mud. Wasps or mud daubbers whatever you call em where you live like the little holes. make sure that the hose inside is connected and not ripped open.

Try putting the leg into a barrel. I could never get water out of my hole until I put it in a barrel. Once I change the impeller it always came out the holes hose or barrel. sounds like your inpeller might be getting old. Its worth changing just to be safe. Im sure you will here that from everyone here. :)
