Might as make my first post here a question. I acquired an old (62?) Starcraft that i an refurbishing to be my winter fishing boat. I'm now to the point of wiring up a new ign. switch. The trouble is, that the previous owner cut the old one off. I "think" the motor was made for Montgomery Wards by Chrylser (that is what is on the control box for the throttle and shift selector) and after a little research decided that it was made around 1970 or so. I need a schmatic (sp?) to correctly wire it, but first I have to know what year it is. Hence my question. Where do I look to find the manafacture's data plate? I've looked all over the motor and can't find it anywhere. TIA

Usually found on the transom mounting bracket. You may have to tilt the engine up to see it.
Also check the block (powerhead) for the serial number, which may be stanped into it.
Lastly, look at the top of the powerhead, near the thermostat housing, for a small aluminum cap. It may also have the number on it.
