I just bought a 18' 1988 bayliner trophy bass over the weekend and it needs some work (impeller, carb rebuild and steering replaced) but i cant find anything on the motor that looks like a serial number. Ive been searching this forum since i found it, but nothing seems to help. Maybe there's someone here who has one of these boats and can help. Please, i have no idea where to start its my first boat and need to order parts for it so i can go fishin...

look on the stern bracket it should be a silver sticker with model and serial number.....mine was faded and hard to read...and led light turned in multiple angles it was readable....the block may have a stamp on the top by the flywheel....check your exhaust manifold for a sticker that will id the manifold it can crossed to the block and model...

On the transom mount. On the drivers side.A sticker. It usually gets a bit of fuel, grease etc and it falls off.
Any 1988 125 model a/b/c will work for parts. This site sells parts.
The steering, you need to take it out and on the cable is a number stammped in it somewhere.
It will have the length in feet, maybe inches.I think you can order that here too.J
