I recently picked up a Starcraft Islander 221 with the Volvo Penta 4.3 Gl engine. I’m trying to figure out how to tie in a fuel line for my 9.9 horse kicker motor. Any suggestions? I have been told there should be a plug I can remove on the fuel separator but I don’t see anything. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help!

Volvo does not make anything easy
I would leave what there now and run a new spin-on type follow the arrows inlet from the tank, outlet arrow to the motor, using the second outlet arrow install a shut-off and the kicker fuel line

I would see if your fuel tank has a second pickup area. if so, then add a second pickup and anti-siphon valve.

Wouldn’t I want to try and tap into the fuel line after it has been through the water separator filter?

not unless you add a bunch of check valves. or the main engine will suck air thru the kicker or the kicker will suck air thru the main engine.

Suggest installing a fuel Tee valve so you can shut one off and use the other, or run the kicker off a 6 gallon portable tank.

The problem is, my fuel water separator only has one exit and the ones I have found with two exit holes will not fit. The gas line is solid from the separator into the enigne. I added a brass T fitting before the separator with two brass check valves, one going to each engine. I also put an inline fuel filter on the line before the kicker motor fuel bulb. Seems to work fine in the limited testing I have been able to do so far.
