I saw that watt meter and it reminded me that I wanted an amp meter to test everything that I own!! LOL

Any ideas?

BTW, you're being charged by kilowatt hour, but really it's an ampmeter more than a watt meter. Thats what my major appliance instructor in college told me.

Harbor freight. They're always on sale for 2.99. That's less than the 9v battery inside is worth. I think I have 6 of them now. I leave them out in the rain, step on them, throw them at things when I'm mad, and short them across a 2400 amp capable battery. They still work fine and agree with my 100 dollar fluke.

I've got one from home depot for $50, clamp meter.

You need to hook it around 1 of the wires, so to measure an apliance, make a pigtail with some stripped romex with plug on one end, outlet on the other, plug in the appliance and see what she draws.

The watt meter is nice because it can capture startup draw. That's mor important if your trying to figure out a generator or inverter requriement, but just knowing what draws what, an amp meter does just great.

.....If you get the clamp meter, works for AC and DC... Open up the breaker box of your house and you can really see where your power is going.
