Where to buy an engine?

Hi folks,

I had my boat winterized this morning and found some bad news...cracked block (7.4 Bravo). The silver lining here is that I wanted to put a 5.7 in it to match up the SE106 out drive as the 454 is too much for that out drive and I'm paranoid about the power.

So, I have to pull the 7.4 out this winter and put in a 5.7...where are some recommended vendors for marine engines? I've found US Engines, but that's as far as I've gotten today.

Thanks!

You do understand you are going to need the complete ready to run engine. Not just a long block. Everything is different on a small block compared to your big block.

If you google a place that is more local to you, that may be your best approach. Also, you can google the Better Business Bureau (BBB) track record for many of these places that you will find.

Yeah, try to buy local if you can. The cost of shipping an entire setup should be avoided.

How big of boat you plan on pushing with that 5.7? EFI or carb? Alpha 1 based outdrive?

I have a 23' Landau cuddy cabin. The 454 is not original to the boat, it was put in the late 90's. originally had a 5.7. SE106 outdrive.
