Hi,

I am visiting Fort Lauderdale in late December and would like to know if anyone can recommend a good place to buy Mercruiser engine parts in this area. I am specifically looking for exhaust manifolds, risers, etc in aluminium (ceramic coated for salt water) for a -00 7.4MPI Bravo III. I will be there only for a few days so I really need a well-stocked shop so that I can pick up the stuff off the shelves.

Thank you in advance!

Sounds like your from outside the USA and want to buy parts to take back. If you goolge Ft Lauderdale boat parts all kinds of things come up. The best to have about everything would be West Marine and just put Ft Lauderdale in this link and it will show you all kinds of locations in the area.

Unfortunately with accountants running companies these days, that happens less and less... An accountant views parts on shelves as money not earning interest, so they are now just getting parts in on an order by order basis. Very few shops carry much of anything.

Probably the best option would be to select a shop of your choice, email them with what you want, and when, and pay by CC. They will then have the parts you ordered waiting for you.... (that way they don't have 'money' laying around not earning interest... In fact, they have your money, earning them interest )

Absolutely CORRECT!!!!

Use the telephone and order ahead. A larger shop should even be able to tell you what is available the next day or if it will take a week.

The same thing happens with MOST parts stores that they have the part the next day (Thankfully all the delivery services are fast).

The only sure thing in a parts store are spark plugs, minor tune up items, filters and impellers.

CALL AHEAD!!!!!! I would suggest you call now and shop by phone.

Now here is another great idea. If you look up the parts (at the best price available on the internet) ......you can have them drop shipped to the hotel where you are going to stay. Actually very reliable as long as the hotel know you are coming and will hold them ;)

Thanks! I now know what to do. The idea of shipping to my hotel is brilliant! Yes, I am travelling across the atlantic ocean to visit beautiful Florida in December.

Since your looking at ceramic coated aluminum

There are a few High Performance shops that carry EMI and CMI exhaust (Eddie Marine) (Custom Marine Inc.) for BBC's.

Inovation Marine in Sarasota may even have something on the shelf.

Innovation Marine Corporation • Products & Services

Companies like Eddie Marine, IMCO, etc. are not local, however they have Florida Dealers, and sell direct
Eddie Marine : High Performance Marine Products and Hardware
Home Page | Teague Custom Marine

companies like Basic Power and our own iBoats have manifolds that can be ordered
Basic Power Interactive Catalog.

West Marine is about 2X the cost of other places

The only way to shop at west marine is to print out their competitors add and bring it with you. they match pricing.

Being in Australia, that's something I didn't know... I thought he was referring to the compass. WEST Marine and Florida, on the EAST coast...

Living here in SoCal with 2 WM within 15 miles of me and a new "mega-WM" about 25 miles away in beautiful Newport Beach, I did not know that they match.......but the way I look at it is I'm glad to have a place open on Saturdays and Sundays where if I need something, there's a place that may have "common items" on hand....even if it costs more.

For someone to come in from guessing across the pond and want's to find a lot of stuff and take back with. Not knowing how much a person has to spend or what they want it would be my understanding to put them in a place for best results. I didn't plan on being the persons personal shopper, therefore west marine

While I don't spend much at west marine I do by a few items after doing my own research. I would also put a few other places in the same high price category.

Cheers
