Hey guys.
I am restoring a 1986 Stratos Fish and Ski and have reached the carpeting stage. I have covered the hatch covers and am ready to do the floor. While at my local marine dealer I noticed the new boats have a plastic trim aroung the edges of the floor carpet. Anyone know of a source for it. It looked to be about 3/4 " wide. Not absolutely necessary but would make a neater looking job. Thanks..

Dakk1,
I am also working on a 95 Stratos which was damaged in a fire. I went to stratosboats.com and got the phn # and they were very helpful in helping me find the parts I needed. I noticed in another post where you had painted your boat. I have a few questions to ask about that and I was wondering if you would e-mail me at kfbryant@hotmail.com I thank you in advance.

Stratosfied
Thanks for the tip I'll give those guys a call. I hope to be on the Redneck Riviera, in the boat, by July 4th. I sent a link to pics of my "project" in your Email.

Not plastic, but when I renewed my carpet a couple years ago, I took it to a carpet distributor and had them install nylon binding around the perimeter. I added snaps, so it's now removable for cleaning (that's nice if I'm going fishing). I painted the cockpit floor with epoxy and added "grit" for non-skid. Works fine. As I recall, the binding was $1.00/ running foot.

Re: Where to find boat carpet trim.

That's cool arks. Seems like in my searching around the internet, looking for carpet trim, I came across a marine carpet dealer that sells snap on carpet. Can't remember that web address. It is a practical idea for some boats, maybe those with long runs, but with all these hatches, 8 of 'em, and it being "cut up" the way it is, it sure would take a lot of snaps. Of course, when you needed to redo your carpet again,... it would be a Snap... :D
