I ca not find a carb kit anywhere for my 1982 mercury 50 hp 4 cylinder 2 stroke carb # 6517A7. I really need a choke shaft as well but I think I can make a replacement of the burnt plastic end on it.

Does anyone know where I can find the kit? I can't even find a part number for a kit.

Re: Where to find Carb kit ?

I much prefer using the factory site to find original part #'s and prices, from there I can use the OEM # to compare all other suppliers then decide where to get my part.

Have your serial # handy and start here.

http://www.mercruiserparts.com/SelectModelType3.asp?class_id=2

Remember your serial # could be in either the Merc or the Merc/Mariner pages, keep looking til you find your serial # range to be sure you have the correct catalog for your motor.

Did you notice those list skip my year? This is a BA3D . The shop that looked at it said there were 3 setups that year but mine was a BA and his book showed the kit as discontnued.:( serial # on motor is 6148789

#'s on lower carb reads 6517A8 then below that it has what appears to be BA3D then a gap and 203

#'s on upper carb reads 6517A7 then below that it has what appears to be BA3DT then a gap and 150

CharlieB from your link they show it appears to be a Tillotson. $10 for a gasket set or $70 for a repair kit.

Without your model and serial # I can't check.

If you looked it up correctly then you should have good part #'s, now start checking aftermarket sources using the Merc #'s to cross-reference, or call your local dealer and ask a few more questions, let him know what you found, compare notes.
