Where to find model/serial number

We have what we believe is a 1986 Johnson 90 hp,and we need to find the model serial number.The sticked on the motor bracket is missing,,can see where it was,but it is not there.We want to insure the boat,but i know we will need model /serial numbers off motor.Is there any other areas on the motor to find these numbers.Thanks for any help.

You may find the numbers on a silver plug on the block. It would be about 1 inch in diameter.

Thank you Ezeke,do you mean the softplug,,,I just read that on another post that was put up after mine.I will be checking on that tomorrow.

It would be on the welch plug, the mounting bracket or sometimes you can find it stamped into the block.

BubbaBaxter, thats the first time i've seen the term "welch plug" used on this forum.<br /><br />Thats what we call them in Australia.<br />(i'm bored)<br /><br />Aldo
