I just bougnt 89 Bayliner 16' for 150 doll (no carbs and starter) and I want to check HIN inside boat. I talked to boat registration department and car salvage inspectors, they don't know. Title is OK. Seller has bought the boat from auction and got new title 2 month ago. Who officially check salvage boats in FL?

I want to check HIN inside boat.

It's Outside the Hull, Not Inside........

Look at the Top, Starboard side, at the Transom Seam, where it meets the top section of the boat.......

I believe a lot of boats do have the 2nd HIN inside somewhere but I don't think there's much of a standard location like the one they usually put on the STBD side of the transom. I found mine by accident one day as I unbolted my back seat to do some repairs and it was in the fiberglass behind the rear bench. You'll have to go exploring or call Bayliner and ask them for a location if they even put one in?

HID is in three locations, One you have seen on the transom.

The other two are in "Inconspicuous locations" However like Bob said this meens different things to different manufacturers.

Yes your Bayliner should have it's HID in two more places, it was not optional it is required. Due to the reasoning for the additional HID tags, I doubt that they will just tell you where they are hidden. If it were common knowledge, it would defeat the purpose.

Not even the marine police knows where the hidden numbers are. Had a boat of a customer's that the Marine Patrol thought was stolen. They pulled rub rails and disassembled most of the boat and never found the numbers.
