I live in the N. VA area. Neither of the two boating stores carry SS props in stock. Where else can I go to get a decent one? I was hoping just to get one tomorrow and try it out on the Potomac rather than use the fragile ProPulse on there now.

How deep are the waters you boat in? If there's any risk of a prop stirke, remember...

Run aluminum, buy a new prop.
Run SS, buy a new lower unit.

If you'd rather not believe me, that's fine. Hope your checkbook is full.

Steve

Merc 140- modern props are mostly ALL made with a rubber hub made to spin out before damaging anything in the gearcase....Chris-what pitch/size would you like ??

E-bay. Got my Laser II there for $150- prop is a 9 out of 10.

There are over 100 props listed there at anytime.

Like an internet garage sale. Something for everybody.

UFM82

Oh, and about damage. If you are careful, you'll be fine. I have run SS props for a looooooooong time now and have NEVER damaged a lower unit. I have hit things before and have dinged a blade or two but have never "destroyed a lower unit" before. If you hit something hard enough to damage the lower unit, you're gonna have something else wrong anyway. It takes a pretty good shot to mess one up. Trust me.

UFM---are you running a Laser 2 on an Alpha rig? I've got a bid on one to try a different pitch and I was almost positive it would slip onto my Alpha drive shaft okay.
