Where to get an exhaust valve for a 5.7 cylinder head?!

Hi all!

If you read my previous post, i am stuck with 2 new vortec heads that don't fit on my 5.7. I still have 2 old heads, and 1 exhaust valve is destroyed cause a champion RS12YC chipped off and the part fell into the cylinder. Well i decided to fix that but now i'm stuck cause i don't have an exhaust valve. It's nearly impossible to get 1 FAST here in Europe (the reason is that i gotta go out of the marina till sunday). Can any 1 suggest where to buy an exhaust valve? Or does anyone have an old one willing to sell? I would GLADLY pay for the shipping costs + valve of course! The head is a 87-95 350 LATE style, and the diameter of the valve stem is 9.4mm (3/8'' *I THINK* - coming from Europe, remember?? ).

Have you checked auto parts stores in your area? That part is NOT marine specific. Maybe you have a Chevy dealer in your area, I sure don't know.

You'll also need to know the diameter of the Tulip of the valve,...
There are different 1s.....

When you bring this to your Machinest,... He probably has access to replacement parts....

Hehe Don, you wouldn't recognize the chevy dealer in Europe, i can guarantee you that. No V8 or V6 engines, only small I4s. A big % of them being diesels of course. So that was not an option. It is VERY difficult to get a part like that in Europe. Well i managed to get an old exhaust manifold from an USA car importer for 25 euros (approx. 37 USD). Can you imagine - a price for a NEW exhaust valve is 119 EUROS + 19% tax, that brings us to 141,46 euros, so that's approx. 212 usd FOR A VALVE!! If i remember correctly, i paid 235 usd for a whole new Vortec head in US!!! What a ripoff!

Well, you'll be glad to hear that i sorted the thing out. Repaired the head with the new (but used) exhaust valve, put everything back together and started it. Had a small problem with 2 stuck lifters (the engine was open & dry for some time), now the V8 is purring like a cat again.
