Im working on a new boat, 1973 MFG Carefree, Im planning on doing 4 Gauges, Speed (Easy), RPM, Volt and Trim (easy) Every-time I look at a gauge kit, it does not come with the necessary stuff needed to wire the gauge, I need to find matching agues that come with all the hardware, any clue?

Depending on what powers the boat and what remote you have, there may be a harness to plug into the remote to connect to the tach. Otherwise you have to make the wiring. So, what motor?

A voltmeter won't come with a harness. You need to make your own, only two wires and one for lights.

Gauges do come with the hardware to mount.

Am I on the right track?

iboats has tons of gauges - http://www.iboats.com/Boat-Gauges-In...view_id.217132 But it may get tricky trying to match existing gauges.

Somewhat, the boat is raw. I now understand what you mean for the volt, just a postive and negtive. Does that wiring for the RPM gauge specific to the motor? 1982 merc 40hp

What remote control? Is there a connector in the front (toward the helm) of the remote?

Got a serial number for the motor? Then we can look at a wiring diagram to see if the tach signal is routed to the remote?
