the manual says furthest back towards the center, which is fine, but would it not work better ON the center line? or would it see the keel and give false readings?

Re: where to mount puck style sensor

The thinner the hull it has to shoot thru the better. Can not have any air between it and the hull. Do not want any air under the hull where the transducer is either.

So mount it where it is far enough away from any keel, rib, stake that can interfeer with the water flow under the boat. The deeper in the hull and farther back the better as long as have nothing in the way and no air bubbles.
