Where to mount TnT switch....

Just installed a CMC PT-130 on my 1548 aluminum duck boat.....Ive got a Tohatsu 40D on the back of it and I am having trouble finding a place to mount the switch that actually does the tilting and trimming.....right now I have it mounted on a bracket I made that screws into the bottom of the tiller handle and the switch comes up vertically on the drivers side of the handle, but it is well behind the throttle handle. This makes for some awkward movements when trying to trim the motor.....grabbing throttle with right hand and trimming with my now free left.....when I tested it out it was just downright awkward and dangerous and I was in wide open water with no one around me. we will be running in fairly crowded boat ditches through the flooded timber to hunt, and these awkward movements coupled with trying to work a spotlight, coupled with there being as many as 40 or so other boats around us makes me very nervous..... so anyone who has experienced mounting one of these switches before I would greatly appreciate some insight...

Side note - boat just has two foam filled "pods" in the back corners of the boat that act as seats, so because the switch has to come up through a hole and is then secured by a nut on top, mounting it on the seat itself is out of th question, plus the battery is in the right front and Im trying to minimize the amount of wiring I have running across the transom of my boat.....oak limbs and loose wires dont tend to mix!!!!!

I took black tape and taped mine right to the throttle where it would be if it were built in, worked really well and you can work it without taking your hand off the throttle.

I would think this location would be best if at all possible. This way you can operate it without taking your hand off the throttle as mentioned. Then you have the other hand for steering, etc. If you can't retrofit it onto the handle, maybe purchase a new aftermarket throttle arm with a tilt/trim switch built in and wire to that switch instead of the one that came with it. Not sure how much money you want to spend though...

Good luck!

If it is that critical, then a foot switch would be a better choice. Make one from two heavy duty switches available at Radio Shack or from the electrical department of any home improvement store.
