where to mount trim tabs

You are in luck, I just finished installing my smart tabs an hour or so ago. Per those instructions they install a 1/2 inch from the bottom of the boat and out as close to the chine as you can get them. Depending on what your hull looks like that is where the horizontal bottom of the boat turns into the V section.

As Far Outboard as Reasonably Possible,+ Ever so slightly Above the Bottom of the Hull.........<br /><br />Pretty Cool Looking Tabs......

Bondo's recommendations are a lot closer to Bennett's. Not sure what the instructions were for those tabs you have, but 1/2 inch seems higher than I would go. On my first boat with tabs I had them set flush and I was a a little sorry. My current boat they are about a 1/16 off the bottom. Feels right.

I installed a set up lenco this year and they are about 3/8 above the bottom but then the the trailing edge had to be 3/4" above the bottom of the hull. Here are the intructions for you to take a look. Seems you would have a different application I'm sure but it could give you some ideas. Good luck. What66;<br /><br />You will need to do some trial and error testing. When you deploy them to assit your boat with palning, they wil be too far down for cruising and drive the bow into the water. If you adjsut them up so that they do not drive the bow down you will minimize the help in planing. It will be a compromize no matter what. Make sure you have time to test before the weekend of playing.
