Where to sell an Evinrude 110? whats it worth?

Hi guys,

I have an Evinrude 110 with low hours that I am looking to sell. I moved to California and got rid of the boat I had at the time but kept the outboard since it was in such good shape. I have no need for this engine now and am looking to sell it. Its on a rack right now, hasnt been started in a while but I did winterize it before removing it.

Whats the best way to sell one of these?

Whats a good fair price this should go for?

As long as you can steer clear of the scammers, Cragslist is probably going to be the best bang for your buck. Motor value is also dependent on the region where the motor is being sold, and the condition of the motor. Allot of areas have banned 2 strokes in lakes, so that may be a strike against you if your area had followed suit. Looking around on CL for the prices on similar engines may give you a better idea on how to price your motor for the market.

A couple more tips; If you can make it so the motor runs on the stand, people would be far more likely to part with their money if they can hear it run.
If the impeller, spark plugs, and lower unit oil hasn't been recently changed, changing them would be an inexpensive selling point for someone looking to buy.

Yes, doing a compression test and posting the results in your ad will be good.

Thats a good point, I will do that. All that aside, assuming the compression test checks out, The motor has had a complete tune up (plugs, wires, impeller, ect...) and I set it up to be able to run the engine for the potential buyer, What would a fair price be? It is a 1987 Evinrude 110 VRO with low hours.

Ive heard ones in perfect shape could go for around $1000 - $1200. Would you say thats fair?
