is a 4.3L block most likely to crack? I know this is a stupid question but we had a very cold winter this year and I left my block full of RV rated to -50C.
If the block did crack, would there be rv in the bilge? I had a look today and I cant notice any cracks on what parts I can actually see.
Thanks for any info.

Re: Where.......

If it was winterized, what makes you think it would crack?

You winterized your engine + you don't see any cracks = normal (and the point of winterizing)...

Is there more to the story?

Re: Where.......

It could crack internally and you would get water in your oil. Have you run it yet?

Start it up and run it. If it leaks externally, you will be able to see where. If it leaks internally, the the oil level will rise and become milky.

While you may have put -50? Antifreeze in it, did you drain it first? If not, well, keep a close eye for external and internal leaks while you run it.

Re: Where.......

I have not run it yet. I am a very paranoid person though. I drained the system of water, then flushed it with antifreeze and then filled it up via the water pump hoses. When I flushed it I did it the same way as I filled it. I had antifreeze coming out of all my draincocks so I should have gotten all the water out before filling it again. I cant really run it yet. Too much snow.
We hit -45C this winter that is what has me worried.
Thanks for the responses folks.

Re: Where.......

That -50 antifreeze will be fine at -45. Even if you got to -60, the AF would get slushy but PROBABLY NOT freeze hard enough to break anything.
Don't panic unless it's necessary. Geeeeezzzzz

Ditto what Don says,if you had AF running out the drains you most likely got the water out.It would have to get REALLY darn cold to freeze that RV stuff solid.I bet its fine!

Actually, after a quick temp conversion I found that -45C = -49F so you should be OK if all of the water was displaced.
