I'm installing nautolex in the cockpit over plywood and need some advice. Do I need to seal the plywood (thompsons water seal?), and what kind of adhesive should I use. Would really not like to use spray adhesive if possible. thanks in advance

Re: which adhesive to use

So you're saying you have not sealed the plywood with epoxy or fiberglassed over it?

and wood used in a marine environment needs to be sealed, epoxy is the best, but polyester - fiberglass resin works as well and is cheaper.

If your plywood floor is not sealed, that new nautolex is just going to hold water under it and help rot your floor out faster.

Give us some details on boat type, what kind of plywood, is it already sealed, etc.

Pictures or a shareaproject are really handy

Also, is the plywood fastened down somehow? Hopefully you can get it up so that you can do what sdunt said and seal everything with glass, even the underside of the plywood.

Thompsons water seal is useless in my opinion.
