The wife is not a strong swimmer. I was thinking this would make a nice gift. Any feedback?

Re: Which Auto-inflatable PFD?

I have found the ONYX Brand to be well made and comfortable.

The auto inflate mechanism is a compressed powder pellet that is well inside of the jacket.
Heavy spray and soaking rains do not cause false inflation.

Some can be Converted back and forth from Auto to Manual inflation.
In Manual you can jump in the water and it will not inflate unless you pull the cord.

Get one she will actually wear. Red? Blue? Grey? Camo?
The Over-The-Shoulder Styles require at least a T-Shirt for long term comfort.
They also have Belt Pack Inflatables that wont mess up her Tan Lines.

No matter which brand you get, the buoyancy is determined by the size of the CO2 Cartridge.
All 24 Gram PFDs will give the same lift.

24g = 28.8lbs Buoyancy.
33g = 39.6lbs Buoyancy.

Either one is a LOT more than your Type III at 15.5lbs.
