well i dont know if this has been covered in the past but i didnt see it so here it goes, my 07 auto zone starting battery finally went bad a dead cell, so I am in decision on what to buy. I want a normal flooded cell and not a maint free battery, but should I buy a starting or a duel purpose battery my minimum cranking amps are 360 for my evenrude I can get a duel purpose with 550 cranking amps and 675 marine cranking amps with 120 reserve capacity what would most of you guys do and thank you for the feedback in advance.

For my previous Force 120 and now Johnson 115 2-stroke engines, I buy "+1" up size from factory build. For example... Since factory size was 24DC, I bought / installed 27DC (with a larger plastic battery box). re: http://www.walmart.com/ip/EverStart-...ttery/16795212 750 Cranking amps battery and engine only needed 550 cranking amps.. This worked great for me. Long mumblings short, go with the larger than factory size. This "1 size up" always works for my vehicle battery replacements as well.

You don't say what motor you have. Up to 75HP, a 24 series Marine Battery is fine. Above that, if you have the space, either dual 24 series or a single 27 series marine battery is good. I always liked the starting/deep cycle combos, but am unwilling to pay more for them.

These recommendations are simply my opinion. I have a small boat with a 135HP outboard. I run a single 24 series battery in that., due to space limitations.

I have a 98 evenrude 115 intruder, it uses the 24 series battery I have always used a a marine starting with no problems but I see they are selling more duel purpose batterys which my factory manuel says are ok was just kind of up in the air as to which would be better.
