Just recently bought my first boat. 20' 1990 Bayliner Capri BR with a Mercruiser 3.0L. The thing takes forever to start up cold. I'm guessing the carbs need a good rebuild since the previous owners never did one. Which one should I buy? Thanks

My 3.0 carb finally needed a rebuild this year after 25 years of good service. I looked at rebuild kits, but by the time I bought a kit, a float and choke(mine needed both replaced), then a can of carb dip, it wasn't a ton more to have a pro rebuild it. Flying Fish did mine. I mailed in off and got it back in about a week. I bolted it on, started it and adjusted the idle mix. It ran great.

Thanks for the fast reply. This is the best forum i've been on by far. Everyone is so helpful. I'm going to call them tomorrow.

Depending how long you let the boat sit between uses, if fuel evaporates out of float bowl, it WILL take a bit of cranking to start it. This is normal. How does it run otherwise? 'nutcase
