I do know what I need is a battery with the floater option in it. That way when I come home from fishing I can connect it and it will go into a full out charge then drop off til the battery is fully charged and shut down. If by chance it needs more charge it will come on and only give what is needed. BUT, what is a good one and how many amp charger should I get. I've seen them at Walmart for 17 bucks that is a 2 amp and one for 35 that is a 6 amp. Also Advance Auto has a 1.5 amp for 29 bucks. Which do you think I should purchase? Haven't found one over 6 amp though. Any thought on this people. I want to mount the charger onboard with a plug so all I have to do is plug the boat in. The battery is used for trolling motor, 2 lights and live well pump.

Cabella's has promariner 4 stage chargers. The 12 amp was less than 100$.May not be enough for your needs though. I bought and instaled one this year.I don't need to charge a troling motor though.

Jim

There are a number of 6A on-board chargers (Cabela's) or here on iBoats.com. Cabela's brand is really a Guest charger but a little cheaper. They work great and are less than 60 bucks. Mine stays connected all winter.

I mounted a Guest Duo-Pro in my boat for my trolling batteries. My troller is a straight 24V. The charger monitors each battery and charges as needed. I like it....given me about 4 years of trouble free service so far.
