Which coil goes where?

Need your help please. I bought a 140TL79R in pieces. Had the block bored, bought a rebuild kit and am almost done with a huge project. Problem is, the coils and powerpacks came in bags. Thankfully, they were labeled port and starboard. Unfortunately they were not labeled top and bottom. How in the world can I determine which goes where? I would guess that it makes a difference for firing order. Also, the solenoid was completely unwired. I'm apparently not smart enough to figure it out from the wiring diagram. I have a shop manual but it's no help for this. Last problem, on the terminal block, there is a jumper. As near as I can tell from the parts diagram this goes between the top two (2 and 3) . Is this correct? You guys are awesome. I have rebuilt a 1954 18hp Johnson and a 1974 85hp Johnson with your help. Hope to get this thing running soon. It sits on an 18ft starcraft aluminum that I have refurbished. Thanks.

The coils have orange and black wires to each. The top coil has a blue stripe as well. Blue=sky=up is the motto.

(although blue and water...)

Oh, and for the solenoid, you'll have a red wire with a large ring - that goes on the top terminal under the main battery positive cable. The starter lead comes off the bottom of the solenoid and jumps to the starter. The two remaining terminals, bottom one goes to ground and the other goes to the small ring lug (I forget the colour, but it's the only one on that part of the harness).

Ok, there are no blue stripes on any coils. I tried to hook them up based on how the plug wires seemed to be bent to fit the best. Finished assembling everything else and, holding my breath, tried to start the motor. Didn't start. Seems like it is trying, but mostly I fear that the firing order is incorrect. How can I possibly assure that the coils are in their correct places? Also, is it possible to be 180 degrees off since I replaced the crankshaft and pistons? I don't think that is possible, but then I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer either. Just a thought, I have not checked, but do all four sparkplugs fire at the same time regardless of which cylinder is supposed to fire? If so,then I guess it wouldn't matter which coil was where. All help will be appreciated.
Thanks,

Well I do not think all 4 coils fire at the same time.----When you put the motor together the 4 pistons do not come up at the same time do they.----Just switch coils on one side at a time and see what happens.

My bad - it's the wires from the power pack. The orange/blue is the top for each side. The coils just have orange...

Wonder of all wonders, I had them right! Unfortunately, now I found a broken wire on one of the coils. Ordered a new one. I'll let you know how it goes when I get the part. Thanks.
