I have a 1977 55 hp Evinrude, Model...55772D, Serial...C 92657, purchased with no control box or cables. As I'm new to Evinrude, I need help with which control box and cables I need. I also need the wiring harness. Thanks!

Look in the "Top Secret File", there is a list of salvage yards there, maybe one of them will have what you need.

That control box will work if your outboard has the mate to the big red plug.

They only made a black and red cannon plugs. If you have a red plug and the harness has a red plug you should be good to go.

I'm already old. LOL. Trying to send you a PM. Maybe it will go through tomorrow. If I remember right the yellow plug came when OMC got rid of battery CD.

I have a set of controls from the 60's that has a red plug and doesn't work on 70's motors. So make sure it's a 1970's control system

To the OP the set of controls you posted will work with your outboard.

Re: Which control box do I need?

Finally, the guy got back to me. Got the controls for $65. I fired the ol' Rude up yesterday. Paid $100 for the motor, $65 for the controls, cables and wiring harness and $66 for a lower unit seal kit. Starter needs new bendix, so I pull started it. Ran like a charm, other than it had trouble idling. I'm sure a bit of cleaning the carbs and adjusting them will take care of the idle issue. But, I am so stoked!!!! I am less than $300 into this motor!!!! Yippeeeeee!!!!!!!!!
