How good are you with a soldering iron? You can build one yourself for just a few dollars, but if you're not into that sort of thing spending 30 bucks isn't a bad deal.

Yeah, I saw the adapter at USAtoolwarehouse in Seattle. $14.50 for 3 day delivery seems a bit steep. Was hoping to an adapter closer to NY

Ive had one on order for 3 weeks. I'd look elsewhere.

Funny that you replied. I had been searching for the guy(you) that had a DVA link in his signature, but couldn't remember who it was. :D


$22 bucks is a great price....of course I ended up paying another $20 to ship it here quickly. :facepalm:

Oh well, I'm guessing that this $40 device is going to save me money by preventing me from replacing good parts.

I'm using an auto-ranging DMM from Walmart(Equus). What setting does it need to be on the measure voltage etc?

High range DC if yours doesnt autorange. All the DVA adapter does is convert AC to DC with a bridge rectifier set and hold the signal long enough to read. That way you get a true peak to peak reading instead of an average or RMS like you do with a standard pulsed DC meter . Ive been using an oscilloscope to do the same thing but its a hassle to set up. I suppose USAtoolwarehouse will send my DVA adapter one of these days. They must have something more important to do.

Set meter on 400 volts DC, do not use auto range. Instructions should have came with the adapter. You could also look at CDI marine ignition. They should have instruction for their product.

Adapter arrived today.

Not sure I'm going to need to use the adapter now cause I figured out my problem....wrong spark plugs. :facepalm:

I'm glad I have it though, cause I'm sure I'll need it eventually.

Once I've gone over the instructions and feel comfortable with it, I'll probably test my system just for the heck of it.
