Re: Which Fuel/Water Separator

I want to install one of these. Racor makes quite a few different models, but I can't find any specs on them. I know I have to use one with a metal bowl since I have an I/O. Any info would be appreciated.

I haven't a Racor, but use the Mercruiser item: for which I can pick up filters just about anywhere. I am always amazed at the mess that comes out of the old filter when I change it. Of course, the tank is 22 years old.

I have the 620.

If you have Fuel Injection, you need to have one that can handle the GPH rating, and the micron filtration. My 620 is 90 GPH and 10 Microns. I would call them directly, they likely have the specifications for all of the merc lines and could tell you the correct sized unit.

Thanks for the info. I have never had one of these before, and I assume the fitting on the bottom is used to drain any water that accumulates in the filter. How often should this unit be drained, and how often should the filter element be changed?
