Which guages are a direct replacement?

Hi,<br /><br />The guages on my 1988 bayliner are in bad shape. They work but they look like crap. The facec on the tach is completely missing, ,and the others are scuffed or pitted up or something, just a mess. Are there any guages out there that will work directly off the stock wiring? I want to temove all the old square guages, make a whole new dash plate out of aluminum or painted plexi, then install new round guages. I think there's a tach, fuel, engine water temp, engine oil pressure, and voltmeter. Also a speedo but I'm going to leave that out. <br /><br />Thanks!

You placed this post under forum 'Electronics & Trolling Motors'. Suppose we're talking instruments for your main engine?<br /><br />You have to get instruments that match your engine make and model. Stay away from automotive gear. There are more series/designs to choose from and it may be smart to check existing connectors to make sure the new instruments fit the harness (unless you're redoing it).<br /><br />The instruments mentioned are a good choise for monitoring your engine etc.

If you have a Mercury, or similar "big name" brand engine, most uages will work. I bought the guages for my Mercury outboard on eBay.

Since you said you had an oil pressure gauge, I'll take it that you have an I/O, Force outboards are different. Also, the holes from the Bayliner tach and speedo may be larger than most replacement guages. I'm making a new panel for my '90 2302 Trophy. If you're replacing the guages, go a little farther and do the senders as well (fuel level and oil pressure). With an I/O just about any marine tach on the market will do. Check Teleflex (I like the Sportsman series), VDO, Stewart Warner and others. The iBoats Mall should have everything you're looking for.
