Hello all,

I recently got an old (1964!) Glassmaster 19' V Hull. Very solid hull, no boat flex at all cutting through lake waves, looks classic.

It is a bit under powered (for me), has a good running 1981 Johnson 70 on it. I am looking at several used engines, including a '91 Johnson 120 HP (big block looper, I think) and a '90 Evinrude XP150 (crossflow, I think).

Will do a compression test before purchase, so that may decide it for me.

The 120 looks to be in better shape, but is a little more expensive. The 150 is likely to have a little more top speed, but I am not overly concerned about top speed. Weight looks to be about the same for both engines.

Assuming decent compression check on both engines, I am inclined to go with the 120 based on condition, Is there anything else I should consider?

Just due to system age, I will probably disconnect the VRO on either engine.
