I have an Mastercraft 2010 X-15 with 5.7 MCX. Anyone know which size puller would be best?

Jabsco has the following:
Jabsco 50070-0040 Marine Impeller Puller (Up to 2.5" Diameter)
Jabsco 50070-0200 Marine Impeller Puller (2.5" to 4.5" Diameter)
Jabsco 50070-0080 Marine Impeller Puller (Compact, Up to 2.25" Diameter)

I want to usa an impeller puller to make the task a bit easier but I'm not sure which size.

Thanks in advance!

Have you ever changed an impeller before? I've changed the impellers on a lot of different pumps, over the years, and never really had a desire to spend money on a special tool. usually a couple of screwdrivers removed them quite easily.

Yep, on my I/O. After removing the outdrive it is quite easy to access. And you need to remove the outdrive anyways to do a proper inspection at end of season so no big deal.

With the vdrive the impeller faces the rear. To be able to pry from both sides at the same time would be difficult.

The old one can become my new spare if I don't muck it up.

I don't want to pry against the housing so I do not damage where the gasket goes to form a good water tight seal. I've seen a video where a needle nose vice grip (already have one of those) is used to grab the hub portion of the impeller - I think that is my next best option to the tool.

I don't mind so much spending a few dollars on a tool if it will save me some time and (more importantly) aggravation considering I will be doing this yearly. Plus I have 3 ballast pumps so I can use it on those as well. I was able to remove to one of the ballast pump impellers with my fingers but it took a while.

Pros and Cons and Trade-offs - what life is all about.:)

Re: Which impeller puller

I thought about it some more and although a tool would be nice I figured it would be simple enough to make one and save quote a bit of $. Parts I used:

2 x Paint can openers
4 x Fender washers
3 x Wing nuts
1 x bolt & nut
1 x mending strap

Without permanently attaching the fender washers to the paint can openers the thing was just a little too wobbly to work with. So I ended up silver soldering the inside fender washers to the paint can openers. Less wobbly and easier to work with. This allowed me to pull the impeller out with ease.

The parts above totaled $6.19 at my local hardware store. The silver solder I had laying around the house.
