which make do you see more of?

just curious as to which makes seem more popular in certain areas.where I live id say pre 2000, omc motors are hands down the most prevalent.new motors or newer, mercury is 1st ,followed by yammy,honda, brp,suzuki,nissan .im sure other areas are very different.

Don't see much of anything pre-2000 around here.....saltwater. 100 hp is small. Most common 200-225 HP. 4 strokes out number 2 strokes by a large majority. Lots and lots of Yamaha. Lots of Honda and Zuke's. E-Tec are hard to come by...no local Service centers.

You see a good many Mercs, but most are sub-100Hp pushing crabbing Skiffs. The Mercs you see on the larger craft are typically Optimax. You see a Veradao now or then.

yamahas mostly for post 2000.
hondas for small skiffs and sailboat kickers
small mercs
second to yams on big boats are the OMC's.
Many people on the coast love the 2 strokes and hang on to them or replace them with same. They are hardier and handle bad gas better--so they say.
Older rmotors are OMC. the old mercs were for the racing guys and the OMC for work and hard playing/fishing. But Yamaha became popular as soon as it came out.
Zuk's never caught on

Here in what used to be the Land-of-Outboards up though the 1980 it was an even market for OMC and Merc with a good number of Mariners. Today Merc pretty much owns the market for new engines while OMC out number old Mercs 4 to 1 in all sizes. Yams and Honda have a very small market. Probably because of lack of dealers.

Mercs out number everything else from 90 to 200+ on the rivers, these are jets, for kickers (prop) it's yamahas. On OB's with props for open water it would be Yamaha big and small.

Here it's mostly Yami and BRP on anything newer than say '03. Yami 4 strokes and Etec's are on most boats here in the 150hp and up class.....but Yami is probably the most prevalent. Some Opti's around but not as many as there used to be, rarely see Verado's. On older bay boats and small skiff's it's still older OMC's with some Merc's mixed in, you mostly hear the older Merc's screaming on the bay.

Honda you rarely see, if ever, it's been years since I've seen one around. Suzuki is gaining ground, but still nothing like Yami.

Up in Vilas and Oneida County WI, it's probably 40% OMC, 40% Mercury and 20% Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki. Suzuki has been making a big push the last few years.

For recent manufacture, about 49% Mercury, 29% Yamaha, 2% Evinrude and 20% old Merc and OMC (40/60 mix). In recent years I think I might have seen 1 each Sususky and Nisshan and I don't ever remember seeing a Tohatshu.
