Which manual?

Me again. 1982 OMC 2.5 liter(4cyl), OMC Sterndrive. <br /><br />Looking at manuals. Which is best or recommended? Clymer, Seloc, any others?

If you can find an original OMC service manual, that's the best one. Check on e-bay they come up pretty regularly. Otherwise, any will do.<br />Tom

medic, i have had the clymer and now the seloc. i prefer the seloc. . the clymer i had used single line, cartoon type drawings for a lot of assemblys and hardware. the seloc has actual pictures. maybe clymer has changed, i don't know. i ordered the seloc from iboats. neither are probably as good as a factory manual.

You know that it is an aftermarket manual if it's a Seloc or Clymer.<br /><br />Originals are often called OEM, Service Manual or Shop Manual (short for Workshop, I suppose).<br /><br />I got a factory service manual from www.maxrules.com by telling them I had a Seloc already and wanted an origial. Can't say if they've got one for your engine so you'll have to talk to them.<br /><br />BTW: The Seloc is pretty good (apart from rather poor picture quality) and it gets around things in a more explanatory way than the factory manual (meant for trained mechanics). Personally I like the factory manual better - the Seloc is a great complementation to it in many cases.

I have seen several seloc and omc factory manuals with both having several different covers. They apparently are for my model of engine, but how do I know which is the one that I need? Do the factory manual have photographs too?
