The choices are:

1962 MW Gale 5HP Twin, fresh tune up, New impeller, coils and gaskets, just went through the hole thing, starts on second or third pull, forward/neutral/reverse. Runs very good. It has had a lot of use and was not very well maintained.

1974 MW Clinton 7.5HP , Fresh tune up, impeller is good, coil good, starts on second pull, neutral/forward, runs very good. Very low use had never been apart.

I just fixed up a 12' MW Sea King alum. boat and plan to use it for a little fishing and let my kids have some fun with it.

I am looking for any input that you can offer about which motor I should keep??

Both of them..

Actually you are asking about personal likes/dislikes. In my mind there is no contest, the Gale wins hands down. All other things being equal that is. But you seem to indicate that they aren't equal in condition.

Assuming both are sound with good compression.
Sound gear cases etc. My opinion Keep the Gale and use the Clinton for an anchor.lol.The Clinton has a poor reputation and very limited parts supply.
Out of business since the 80s.If its a 751,753 or 900 its solid state and if it fails its time to replace the unit ,if you can find one.
Gale is closlely related to the Evinrude Johnson motors There is a vast supply of new and used parts back to the early 50s
from dozens of venders and BRP dealers nation wide.
The Gale is much smoother possibly more powerfull and quieter.

Thanks for the input F R and Steelspike, You have confirmed what I thought based on checking other posts on this site.

The other thing that seals the deal is that my kids can legally operate anything 6HP or under in this state at any age.
