Which one? 2004 Caravelle 187 Ski & Fish -OR- 2008 Tahoe Q5i Ski & Fish?

Hi Guys!

So after a lot of searching and realizing a boat is costing me more than I thought :facepalm: I found two which finally caught my interest.

I know I want a fish and ski, a minimum of a 4.3 L engine, fiber glass floors with snap in carpet and a new model.

First I'd like to mention I am in Canada, Ontario. It seems to be boats are more expensive up here?!?! Either way, the two which are in question are...


  • 1) 2004 Caravelle 187 Fish and Ski... pictures and listing are at this link below...
It has a 4.3 L 190 horse, snap in carpet, extended swim platform, bimini top, 182 hours, covers, trailers etc... at a price tag of $17,995 - not sure how flexible he would be on the price. Maybe a little but doesn't sound like much.

  • 2) 2008 Tahoe Q5i Fish and Ski... pictures and listing are at this link below...
It has a 4.3 L fuel injection 220 horse engine, snap in carpet, no extended platform (but don't they have large platforms anyways???), bimini top, 196 hours, covers, trailers etc... at a price tag of $19,995 (2k more) - they said there is some flexibility with the price but not much. The marina is doing everything to the boat before sale, wax and buff, oil changes, gaskets, totally checking it over, certifying it for 30 days, redoing the upholstery in the back seats (a 2008 needed new upholstery?), etc.

PLEASE any options, recommendations, advice, for price, or one boat vs the other would be very much appreciated.

The Monterey would be my choice. I've been impressed with their boats whenever I see them. I don't think you can go wrong with any of your options given they were all well maintained but Caravelle isn't around anymore and Tahoes are low-end.

Monterey without question. I am on my 2nd Monterey, and they are much better built than your other two choices.
