I have a '90 48hp Johnson Outboard and the prop is close to replacement time.....What is a good pitch to use for general cruising, with maybe a tube in tow everynow and then.
I'm thinking a 12 1/2 X 13 is a good starting point for the engine and boat you listed.Of course ,the final selection will rest on which diameter and pitch will afford your engine to run at the upper end of its recommended wide open throttle operating range with an average load. This topic will likely be moved to the prop questions forum.
I had a very similar setup to yours and a 12-1/4 x 15P prop worked well. I also ran a 17P and a stainless 13P Rapture. I sold the boat but I still have the 13P stainless Rapture if you are interested. It was used for one week. I'll make you a deal you can't refuse. DBLSI@charter.net
