Which 'plotter/'finder to buy??????

I'm confused. 20' grady cc, 99% of my time is spent cruising great south bay, long island from fire island inlet to moriches inlet. I'm generally NOT fishing, just cruising. But there are a few shallow water areas i pass thru, and some of the smaller islands near moriches & robert moses....well, if you're not paying attention....
when i was younger, i just slowed down. Now, i'd prefer not to get stuck. So WHAT exactly am i looking to buy???? $4-5-600 i GUESS would be my ballpark, i can't be bothered with downloading coastal maps or frequent updates. I just want to know how deep the water is (less then 20' mostly), and how to get back to where i came from 😳, frequently traveled/previously traveled routes. I'd like at least 7" screen, fairly accurate & relatively quick updates. I'd also like to win the lottery.
So regarding a 'plotter/'finder, what fits the bill? And why? THANK YOU!

Last Spring I bought a Garmin 741XS. Pricey, but I found one on Eay for a few hundred less than retail. I love it. Preloaded maps, 7" screen, depth gauge, chart plotter, way points, easy to use.
It is listed on iboats, but is out of stock.

The 741xs is discontinued & the 1 i see on ebay is $1k. Yikes. The 74cv is much more where i'm looking to spend, in the $500 range, new on ebay. I appreciate the suggestions & unless somebody else chimes in with another thought, i'm gonna search out some reviews on that one.

I you drop to 5" (54xx) that'll put you in the $450- $550's depending on the maps you choose..........
