well heading out with the gang this weekend and I have to take a few passengers.17 foot cedarstrip boat with a motor and boat weight of approx. 875lbs.motor is a 2011 etec that runs right at 6000 rpm on the button with just me and 12 gallons of gas.i will be taking six people and id imagine 20 to 25 gallons of gas.2 kids and 3 women and me .so id imagine another 800lbs or so.well within the capaticy of the boat safety wise.currently run a 14x17p vortex or 14x17 4 blade solas amita.now with that extra weight and being only a 60hp motor im thinking for the trip up I should maybe put on my 14x15 stainless for more grunt .thoughts on this?

Sounds prudent as holeshot will be challenged and top end will not be priority with a full load. Despite the last comment, seems as though the WOT RPM's might be optimal as well propping down under load?

yeah im leaning towards the 15 p for the trip up .when I get there I can always change it out for fishing and economy.just thinking that maybe it might be too much asking a 60 to take that extra weight without gearing down so to speak.

Your always better on a temporary setup for a load to be a little under propped than to struggle with too much prop for the load.
