Which prop to use - OMC Cobra

I have a 87 omc cobra 2.3, The prop on it now says 13-1/4 x 17. I recently got a new prop from a 88 3.0 Cobra, it says 14x17. I like to have nice top speed and accelerate good. What is each prop for and what would be best for me?

In theory, the 14" diameter prop will carry a (heavier) load better. In your case that shouldn't be an issue.

I suggest you try the new prop and see which one you like better.

The 14" is the narrow ear and the 13-1/4 is a rounded ear. Engine heigth can play a factor between these 2 particular props.

In the standard Cobra line the 2.3's used a V4 style case & propshaft and some of the 3.0's were a V6 style. Just count the splines, you'll know if it'll fit your 2.3.
