This winter I'm going to be re-doing the boat. The floor is soft/rotted in lots of places, so it's gotta get done, and I figure I might as well dress up the old girl at the same time.

Right now I'm kinda stuck between 2 different sets of seats. On one of them, I like the looks of the upholstery, and on the other set the design looks mad comfy.

So I'm just looking for some opinions on how comfy either of them are, and how these particular seats hold up. Both in cusion durability and resistance to fading.

The first set is a set of Lowe seats. And no, they aren't going into a Lowe boat, but that really doesn't bother me in the slightest.

The second set is a Wise set.

Help me decide!

Well as far as comfort compred to style I would go with comfort . Now to help you further if you have a Bass Pro Shops nearby they usually have a wall of seats which you can take down off the wall and set onto a Huge half a logg in the boating section of the store and test fit them to your butt and back to see which ones you would prefer to park yourself on for several hours at a time :D. I ws actually pretty amazed some of the cheaper Wise seats were actually more comfy than some of the much more expensive ones.

I like the looks of the first set, but I agree that your butt is the part of your body that decides, not your eyes... :p

Re: Which seats should I go after???

Bummer, don't have a Bass Pro shop in any reasonable distance around here. [I live in MN] so unfortunatley, that's out of the question.

Here are my thoughts on the whole ordeal. I can get 4 of either seat for around 200 bucks, the wise ones are just under and the Lowe ones are just over.

I [right now anyways, I have a habit of changing my mind] I like the look of the Wise seats, but it looks like the Lowe ones would be more comfortable. But I also really dig the look of the Lowe seats....Damnit.

I hate finding two things I really like. Makes like difficult.

If cost was not an issue and I was going totally by looks, Id get those first seats in a heartbeat! But I have no clue how either of them sit so...I think comfort should be the most important right up there with durability.

I'm with the others on the confort first rule of buying seats. Looks are a very distant second for anything your butt will be in. As for seats for others.. buy for looks! :p

Racingman I dont know if this will help you any but I have sat in those exact Wise seats over at Bass Pro and they were quite comfy . The Wise sets that look like the Lowe's you picture were not s comfy and were a good bit more expensive . I wont swear to it but Gander Mountain may have a set up in their stores like Bass Pro does for testing sets if you haave one of them nearby :D. Heres a listing of their MN stores :D.

Re: Which seats should I go after???

Well I have never seen nor sat in a lowe's seat, but I have sat in the wise seats numerous times... they aren't really the most comfortable seat I have been in...

I typically associate them with being the "cheapy" seats, as you can buy them at walmart for 25bucks each...

That being said, the construction isn't the most durable either, especially for the snap loop piece that's supposed to hold the seat down when not in use....

The whole reason i buy them is because they are cheap, and are easily thrown away and replaced when they wear out...

Don't know if that helps you or not, but I have to say I like the look of the lowe's seat better as well... just looks more substantial.

Numlaar the seats at Wally world are much like everything else at Wally world not the best quality. The seats at Bass Pro go from Wally world quality to pretty decent seats :D. I would assume Gander mountain to be the same . I will add there are no $25.00 seats t Bass Pro :D.

The Procraft OEM seats you can get here from iBoats are very nice and you can also get them from The Boat Seat Store @ www.boatingseats.com They have a big selection of all brands and styles

If you have an Academy Sports store around, I recommend staying clear of their brand of seats - Marine Raider.....I have a set in my boat and after 2 months they are already coming apart and have cheap vinyl and foam. While they sell a lot of good stuff, I'm finding their store brands are cheap.

Yeah, that's a short drive :D. Winter is my slow time, I might have to try to find some time to stop by with some sody pops and take a peek at your project. ;)

Re: Which seats should I go after???

Well, I went to Gander tonight [damnit I love that place. could spend hours in there...] and sat my fat *** in the exact Wise seats that I'm looking at. Damn, they were nice. Truth be told, they were a lot nicer then I thought they'd be. Nice and comfy. and felt durable too. I know Wise does make a cheap seat, but these are certainly not part of there cheaper line.

Now if I could just get someone to chime in about the comfort of the Lowe seat, or something similar. They didn't have anything like that at Gander, so I couldn't even check out something that was even close.

And I'll most likely be doing the work in my buddys shop in New hope, so it's even less of a drive.

Re: Which seats should I go after???

I have actually sat in those same Wise seats here at Bass Pro and for the money was more impressed with them than even the $200.00 seats they had . The colors are even the same as thats the color scheme of my boat . Hopefully someone will have the other seats you are looking at and can chime in but I know the Wise seats that looked like the Lowes you are looking at were not comfortable at all and much more expensive. They were much harder feeling.

Re: Which seats should I go after???

I can't say I've had any hands on experience with either seat above, but the first set look like they'd be more comfortable to me.
Something else to keep in mind with a smaller boat, is weight, I tend to keep that in mind when choosing a seat too. Some of the higher end seats get a bit heavy. It's also been my experience that the fancier the seat, the faster or more likely it seems to get torn or damaged. Maybe it's just that it don't hurt so much when it's just a cheap seat that got torn?

LOL other than Cabellas you might see if there is a Lowe bot deler somewhere near you if they have the boats they should have the seats even if they are already mounted in the boats :D.

Well....I took a look....and Cabelas just happens to be a Lowe boat dealer here in MN....sooooo looks like I'm headed there tomorrow. Heaven on earth. :)

And it looks like they have 2 boats with the exact seats I'm looking at there, so we might just have a decision by the end of the day tomorrow!

Kewl the thought just kinda hit me on the dealer :D. Hopefully you will have a new set of seats tomorrow night tht you are happy with since it is your rear end that has to sit in them :D.
