1980 merc 9.8hp
Took off spark plugs today. i thought hey lets get a new pair. Head to marine parts store. Associate ran the model number of the champion plugs. Crossed with ngk b7hs-10.
He asked me if I needed anything else, I replied no my 9.8 merc is good.
He raises his eyebrows and says, I think the manual calls for b9hs-10 rather than the ones I gave you.
So we pulled it up and yup, for my year it's ngk b9hs-10
He told me if my motor has been running well then just keep on the b7hs-10. But I was kinda flipping out so I bought a pair of b9hs-10s too just incase anyone can tell me what's going on.
So which one pair I use for my outboard?
Also what's the difference between the b7 and b9, it's just a number different in labeling.
