Which SS Prop? Lexor 15 or 17?

I have a 2004 Rinker 192 Captiva, 5.0L 220hp, alpha one with 1.62 gears. Right now I am running a 17p aluminum prop and the boat will hit 5,000 RPM and about 47mph or so.<br /><br />I am looking at the Lexor 15 1/2" 17p prop to put on. We do a lot of wakeboarding with this boat and when we have more than 3 people and try to pull a wakeboarder it takes forever to plane out. Should I go down the 15p prop to get a better holeshot or will the cupping and surface area of the Lexor make that much of a difference? <br /><br />I don't typically drive the boat over 35 anyway so top end isn't a huge concern.<br /><br />One other thing, I am in the Denver area so I have 5200' of altitude that robs a lot of my horsepower. <br /><br />From what I've read on here this Lexor looks to be a great prop but I am open to other suggestions.<br /><br />Thanks!<br />Tim

Welcome!<br />The Lexor is a great load prop with good bite and I think if you replace your aluminum with this prop, you'll have to vent the lexor to get the low-end power you'll need, but that's not a problem...any decent prop shop can do it, just have them drill 1/8" pilot holes and let you fine tune it.<br />You're at 5000RPM now, so I wouldn't drop the pitch any. Stay with a 17 and have it vented.<br />Your rig may be a perfect candidate for smart-tabs as well.

Thanks! Would I be better off with a different prop? I would rather not screw around with getting holes drilled in it and going back and forth between the prop shop. Is the High Five a better (way more expensive) solution?

If you don't mind losing some top-end, some cash and a huge repair bill if ever damaged...yea, it's ok. Venting is a 10 minute job for the shop...it's just 1 way to increase hole-shot and keep your top-end.

One that knows where to drill and what size to start with....They must also have knowledge of which side of the leading edge the hole goes on...<br />Crestview Marine on Central, in Wichita knows...
