Which starter for 1988 Merc 5.7 Alpha 1

I am trying to replace the starter on one of my engines and unfortunately bought the wrong on e on Ebay. Does anyone know for sure which starter I need. All of the descriptions on model compatibility are great in the listings but I am not confident that I know the exact model that I have to make sure that I don't make another mistake. The one that I bought was for a 1998 and was physically much smaller and shorter than the original. Thanks for any info.

Just a FYI, That starter on Ebay is for a 14" flywheel(staggered mounting bolt pattern). The 12" flywheel requires the 'straight' mounting bolt pattern.
