Since the engine is out of my boat for a freshen up while I wait on the exhaust manifolds, what else should I replace while out. The transome gaskit looks good but it is the original. Any suggestions? thanks. My boat is a 1987 Fabuglass 19 with a OMC V6,3.8 engine. This is the striger type and the manifolds were tough to find but should be here Tuesday.

Gaskets, o-rings as a practice must be replaced whenever mating parts are separated. Re-use is risking leakages doing damage.

While the engine is out,
1. install the oil change hose
2. is the steering oil cooler at the bottom like the merc,if yes, clean and do a leak check.
3. insp the exhaust horn at the transom housing.
4. remove and insp flywheel teeth
5. insp oil pan
6. insp drive coupler splines

The next time my engine is out I plan to:

Clean/Repaint Bilge
Replace blower hoses
Install additional blower
Clean up wiring mess as needed by previous owner
Fish out all the tools, screws, bolts, nuts, etc I've dropped back there.....
