I don't really think this is technical or I would have put it there.

Sleep. I know a lot of we elderly folk have sleep problems.

I want to go to bed, sleep 8 hours, then get up and do stuff. That is not even close to happening.

I used to go to bed, sleep 3 or 4 hours and wake up wide awake. Than I would take an hour or two nap in the afternoon. I thought that was a carry over from working two six hour shifts a day. Up at 5, home at 1, up at 5, home at 1; 5 days a week.

So I started taking OTC sleep aid pills (Sominex). To bed at 10. . . but I would wake at 5 and feel groggy til mid afternoon. Every time I sat down I would fall asleep for 1/2 hour to an hour.

So I decided this week I would abandon the pills and try to train my body to go to sleep once a day, at about 10
M, and sleep at least 7 hours, then not sleep again until the next 10
M.

Well, I slept about 4 hours last night. Yup. Been up since 3:AM after trying to go back to sleep. Now (7:30) I feel drowsy.

RATZAKRATZA!!

Any suggestions on a drug-free regimen to get on a good sleep schedule?
